Brighter Futures

The Brighter Futures program at the Mullumbimby and District Neighbourhood Centre has two Family Development Workers.

Families in the Brighter Futures program receive ongoing case management support. Options include home visiting, parenting programs and quality children’s services. It is recognised that parents already have skills and expertise when it comes to understanding what works for their family. As a result, services and support will vary according to each family’s needs. Participation in the program is voluntary.

Brighter Futures is designed for families who have children aged eight years or younger and who face specific difficulties.. These difficulties might include domestic violence, parental drug and alcohol abuse, parental mental health issues, lack of extended family or social support or lack of parenting skills. The Brighter Futures program provides parents with support and services that will help parents give their children a good start in life.

A family may agree to be referred from a another community service agency or a family may be invited to join the Brighter Futures program following a report to the NSW Department of Community Services (DoCS) Helpline.

The Far North Coast Brighter Futures Program is a joint partnership between the Consortium of Neighbourhood Centres (CONC) and the NSW Department of Community Services
